Built for outside

Amenity spaces work as hard as the building

Outdoor seating and amenity areas have become part of how Kennesaw restaurants and multifamily communities compete. A restaurant patio adds covers on mild evenings; a pool deck with grill stations and a cabana is part of what residents sign a lease for. Those spaces are also some of the hardest-working exterior surfaces on the property.

A grill island or bar front takes rain on its top, splash from deck cleaning and irrigation, heat from cooking equipment and daily bumps from chairs, carts and maintenance gear. Built like an interior wall and finished like a facade, it cracks at the counter edge, stains at the base and breaks down around cutouts.

We build these elements on masonry or properly framed and sheathed bases with cement board, use reinforced base coats, slope or cap every horizontal surface, keep stucco clear of the slab, and seal around appliances and fixtures. On existing features, we repair the damage, correct what caused it and refinish to match the building.

Picking the right base for the space

Concrete block is the most durable base for an outdoor bar or grill station. It does not rot, it takes stucco directly, and it handles the heat around commercial grills. It is heavy, so it needs a slab or footing that can carry it, which matters on elevated amenity decks.

A framed base with cement board is lighter and easier to shape, which helps with curved bars, long runs and decks with weight limits. If the frame is combustible, grills must be installed with the insulated jacket or clearances their manufacturer requires, and we plan the openings around that from the start. Load limits on decks and podiums are confirmed by the owner’s engineer or design team.

For existing features, refinishing is often the simplest option when the base is sound. We check before we quote and tell you if a crack or stain points to a problem a new coat would only cover.

Our process

Building around guests and residents

We schedule around service hours and pool seasons, and around the licensed trades, so gas, plumbing and power rough-ins are in place before a base is closed up.

Plan & lay out

We review the plans, confirm equipment cut-outs and clearances, and mark where licensed trades need to bring utilities.

  • Equipment specs reviewed
  • Slab & drainage checked
  • Written, itemized scope

Build the base

Block is laid or the frame is built and sheathed in cement board, with openings framed for grills, refrigeration and doors.

  • Square, level base
  • Openings framed to spec
  • Work area fenced off

Stucco & finish

Base and finish coats are applied and cured, the bottom edge is detailed to shed water, and the color is matched to the building.

  • Coats cured properly
  • Drip edge at the slab
  • Color & texture matched

Planning a patio or amenity upgrade?

Bring us in early. A base planned around the equipment and the deck costs less than one rebuilt later.

Outdoor spaces in Kennesaw

Patios and pool decks across Kennesaw

Restaurant patios along Barrett Parkway and downtown, and amenity areas at apartment communities near campus, are where most of this work happens.

Kennesaw’s long warm season keeps patios and pool decks in use for much of the year, which leaves short windows for exterior work. We plan restaurant patio projects around service and amenity work at apartment communities around the off-season, before the pool opens and outside move-in weeks near Kennesaw State University.

Grill & bar stations

Stucco-finished grill islands and bar fronts with sealed cutouts and capped tops.

Pool cabanas & walls

Amenity structures and privacy walls finished to match the community.

Patio walls

Restaurant patio enclosures repaired and refinished to the brand’s colors.

Questions & answers

Outdoor amenity FAQ for Kennesaw

Questions Kennesaw restaurant operators and community managers ask about outdoor spaces.

Do patio walls or outdoor bars in Kennesaw need a permit?
New structures, gas or electrical work and changes to outdoor seating often do. Check with the City of Kennesaw or Cobb County, depending on the property’s location, before work starts.
When is the best time to work on an apartment pool area?
Usually before the pool opens for the season. Near Kennesaw State University, we also avoid move-in weeks when leasing teams and residents need the amenity areas.
Can you work on a restaurant patio without closing it?
Often, yes. We section off the work area, schedule dusty work before service and clean up daily so the patio can seat guests.
Why is the stucco on our grill station cracking?
Usually because of water on flat tops, heat near the grill or a base that was not built for outdoor use. We find the cause before we repair.
Can you match our restaurant’s brand colors?
Yes. We match color and texture to the building or to brand standards and prepare samples for approval.
